(From the Prism of Art and Culture)is a bi-weekly column which was published in Punjabi Tribume from June 1994 to June 1999. It was a popular column and a commentary on ongoing activities in the field of art and culture, mostly in Punjab but there are columns about cinema and documentaries from other parts of India as well. Most of the pieces deal with the role of art and culture in a class divided society; the role of art councils; and the challenges and responsibilities of artistes and theater workers. We are grateful to Kailash Kaur, wife of Gursharan Singh, who painstakingly collected each one of these columns to be shared here.
