When Gursharan Singh began his theatre journey in the 1960s, photography was confined to an exclusive and expensive vocation. There were fewer amateur photographers and professionals had to be hired for taking pictures. There are fewer pictures therefore from the thousands of theatre performances in the 1960s, 1970s and even the 1980s. We have collected pictures for this archive mostly from individual collections and hope to receive many more on the performances in the coming months to construct a fuller narrative of Gusharan Singh\u2019s theatre and the resources used especially in rural theatre.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
